Hosting: Your Server Our Environment
Our shared hosting environment is housed at Global Switch in Darling Harbour, Sydney. Global Switch is an enhanced Tier Three certified facility with its own electrical substation, redundant power via 22 diesel rotary UPS systems. We also have redundant Internet connections at either end of the building. The servers are monitored by our provider 24/7, however we have our own independent system providing us with real time 24/7 views of our servers uptime and performance.
Our backup regime includes server imaging every hour to a separate SAN and overnight backup to a similar standard data centre in Canberra. A server image may be easily mounted on new hardware in the same or different location without the need for installation of applications or data. Our DNS management is handled separately to provide even more security.
Our basic server is a combined web and database server. We recommend a Gecko2 Server i.e. Virtual server with 2 vCPU, 8gb ram, 200gb storage and 2gb traffic [in + out] with Windows Server 2008. Our database of choice is MySQL. We recommend a 3 hour per month SLA for general server support. The server install requires a copy of Adobe ColdFusion. While there is no license fee, there is a Software Maintenance fee of 20% of the off-site license fees per annum. Software maintenance is mandatory at the end of year one and is strongly recommended after the minimum commitment to ensure the server is up to date with the latest versions of our products and that of the student management software, if utilised.
Traffic means the combined inbound and outbound traffic including email and API traffic.
